The EPP-ED Group opened the 10th dialogue between the Orthodox Churches and the EPP-ED Group in Bratislava (Slovakia) on 9 November. The conference lasted for two days. It focussed on the interaction between politics and religion in South-East Europe, and the role which religious communities can play in bringing countries in the West Balkans into the European Mosaic.

The dialogue was thematically divided into three sessions:
  1. Thessaloniki Process: progress reports from Croatia and Serbia
  2. Thessaloniki Process: Embracing the Peoples of the Western Balkans in the European Mosaic
  3. The lesser-known Europeans: Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine
The meeting was chaired by Alojz Peterle MEP, EPP-ED Group Co-ordinator for Dialogue with the Orthodox Church. The dialogue meeting was opened by H.E. Jan Kolonic, Archbishop of Slovakia.

The following speakers gave keynote addresses, followed by a debate on integrating the people of South-East Europe into the European family: Vojislav Kostunica, Prime Minister of Serbia, Ivo Sanader, Prime Minister of Croatia, Konstantinos Karamanlis, Prime Minister of Greece, and Hans-Gert Poettering MEP, Chairman of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament.

Other keynote speakers included: H.E. Mr Mikuláš Dzurinda, H.E. Antonios Milososki, H.E. Cardinal Josip Bozanic of Zagreb, H.E. Mr Béla Marko, Bishop Irinej of Batchka, EPP-ED Vice-Chairman Jaime Mayor Oreja MEP and European Commissioner Ján Figel'.

The Dialogue took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel - Conference Centre, Hodžovo námestie 2, 81625 Bratislava, Slovakia.
