EPP-ED Priorities

Brussels, 4 March 2008

The European Union has to face a number of challenges in today's globalised world, including major issues concerning security, employment, competitiveness and solidarity, energy and food supplies, the environment and climate change. How we tackle these challenges will influence Europe’s place in the world. The Presidency of the EPP-ED Group has decided to maximise its influence by engaging in these strategic European debates, in order to provide their solutions.

Joseph Daul MEP
Chairman of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament

We must complete our present mandate with a more prosperous, but also a more united Europe, a Europe more closely linked, with more initiative, and a more cohesive political dimension. This is and must be our main contribution to the European Union: to consolidate it in the coming years into an important union.

Jaime Mayor Oreja MEP (Spain)
Vice-Chairman of the EPP-ED Group

I hope that all the priorities will fit into one crucial message: that Europe will serve its citizens.

José Manuel Barroso
President of the European Commission
