Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly27-28 March 2008
|The Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly held a plenary session on Thursday 27 and Friday 28 March 2008. This was the first plenary session since the European Council approved the principle of a Union for the Mediterranean which will include the Member States of the EU and the non-EU Mediterranean coastal states. The Assembly reviewed its work of the first four years of operations and discussed the perspective for Euro-Mediterranean Cooperation in the field of energy and environment.
|The Euromed Assembly has several important functions: to develop political dialogue, to promote economical and cultural exchanges and to discuss parliamentary issues like democratic development, checks and balances through legislation and the involvement of civil societies and political parties.
